We’re incredibly proud of Ruby Bisset who has been chosen for the Rotary Club of Wirksworth‘s Young Musician Award for 2022. Ruby has been coming to Wirksworth Music Centre since she started in our beginners string group over 11 years ago. She is now an incredibly talented cello, flute and recorder player who recently gained a distinction in her grade 8 flute exam and hopes to do as well in her grade 8 cello exam later in the year.
Ruby said, “I’m really thrilled to have won this award from the Rotary Club – music is such a big and enjoyable part of my life, ever since I took up the violin aged six!”
Ruby also plays for the Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership City & County Youth Orchestra, Peak District Music Centres and Wirksworth Community Orchestra – alongside her mum and younger sister, where she leads the cello section.
