I became Co-Chair of WMC Trustees in September 2024 and chair the Day-to-Day Operations Committee.
I grew up in a musical household as my Dad played several instruments in a ceilidh band. I learnt piano from age 5 and took up the violin a few years later. I enjoyed attending string ensembles at the Music Centre nearest to where I grew up, so was delighted that my own children could have similar opportunities in Wirksworth. I started helping as a volunteer at Music Centre when my eldest joined “Young Music Makers” and became a trustee in early 2024. I now work at the University of Derby, but until recently I worked in the local junior school, and so am keen to help develop the links between the centre and local schools, to further improve musical opportunities for children in the community.
