I’ve enjoyed playing and listening to music since I learned the cello and piano at school, going to Redbridge Music School on Saturday mornings and taking part in various school, youth and university orchestras and choirs. I now play the cello in UkeWirks, sing in Raise Your Voices and spend a lot of time at folk festivals and concerts as well as listening to a wide variety of music. To me music is largely a social activity, which is why I think WMC is so important.

I am an Emeritus Professor at Sheffield Hallam University, where my role was to promote more effective learning and teaching through educational change.
